WHAT:
Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) Sailfish District Judge David Harper Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner is held to honor the community contributions of Martin County business and leaders. The BSA’s Distinguished Citizen Award, which is considered the highest honor presented by the BSA, is given to individuals who exemplify exceptional leadership and service within the community. In honor of his impressive leadership in the judicial system and community service, this year’s event and award is named the District Judge David Harper Distinguished Citizen Award; the event is co-chaired by Arthur Brandt and Lee Feinberg of the Law Offices of Brandt & Feinberg. Event proceeds will support the Martin County area scout programs and scholarships which serve more than 2,200 youth.

Past Florida recipients of the Boy Scouts of America’s Distinguished Citizen Award include Sheriff Robert Crowder; Nathaniel Reed, Jules “Toots” Armellini; Richmond “Dick” Harmon, U.S. Congressman Clay Shaw; Dr. Edward Eissey, former president of Palm Beach Community College; Golf Legend Jack Nicklaus; legendary Sportscaster Curt Gowdy and City of Boca Raton Councilman Peter Baronoff.

WHO:
Gulf Stream Council, which includes the Sailfish District of the Boy Scouts of America, is the area's largest youth-serving organization serving youth in eight public school districts in southeast Florida and seven counties. The council has more than 34,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Explorers and Learning For Life members in more than 400 packs, troops, posts and groups served by 3,600 volunteer leaders. Guided and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and Advisory Board, it is composed of more than 150 leading business, educational, religious and professional leaders.
