BOCA
RATON, FL – As part of the countdown to the upcoming PGA
Champions Tour’s 2014 Allianz Championship, tournament management invites South
Florida golfers to tee-off in the second-annual JM Lexus Drive Fore the Green monthly
rotating golf series. The series gives area golfers the opportunity to play in
four tournaments held at premier country clubs in South Florida:
- June 1, 2013 at Gleneagles
Country Club
- July 13, 2013 at Boca Grove
Plantation
- August 10, 2013 at The Old Course
at Broken Sound
- September 14, 2013 at Via Mizner
Golf & Country Club
- October 5, 2013 at Mizner Country Club
The tournament is based on cumulative points with
the four grand prize winners awarded the chance to play with a PGA Champions Tour professional at the Allianz Championship Pro-Am in
February 2014.
With
field limited to 100 participants, each golfer must pay $75 per round at each
course, which includes greens fee, golf cart, $20 PGA TOUR Superstore gift card,
a 30-minute practice session to PGA TOUR Superstore and a VIP Partners Club ticket
to the 2014 Allianz Championship. The top two “gross” and top two “net”
division winners will earn a spot to play in the 2014 Allianz Championship
Pro-Am. The top scoring female will win a spot in the 2014 Allianz Championship
Executive Women’s Pro-Am featuring eight-time LPGA “Player of the Year” Annika
Sorenstam. Gift cards to the pro shop will be awarded to the top three
participants in both the “net” and “gross” division. “Closest to the Pin”
contest winners for each individual event with receive PGA TOUR Superstore
Players Club Golf Membership and a chance for a Hole-In-One $1,000 in-store
shopping spree.
“It
is due to the generosity of our title sponsor JM Lexus and presenting sponsor
WPLG that we can keep the participant price attractively affordable at these
exclusive area clubs,” said Dillon. “This is definitely the best golf deal in
town.”
The
event venues share distinction as among the best in South Florida golf. Gleneagles
Country Club has played host to many professional caliber events in golf, from
the 1986 Lehman Brothers Tour Classic to the 2009, 2010, and 2011 FAU Spring
Break Championship. Boca Grove Plantation, a newly renovated and redesigned Jim
Fazio course, has also hosted professional events. The Old Course at Broken
Sound Club has been the home of the Allianz Championship since 2007 and boasts
an abundance of trees unique to South Florida and rolling fairways that give it
a feel similar to courses in the Pinehurst, NC area. Via Mizner, with a rich
history spanning decades, values tradition and the pure golf experience that
builds character, respect and skill on the course. Mizner Country Club, once a
hidden gem, has earned a distinguished reputation and features an Arnold Palmer
Signature Golf Course surrounded by a lush natural landscape.
