BOCA
RATON, FL (February 4, 2013) – From memorable antiques and classics to racy
exotics, the free and open-to-the-public Cruisin-America “Car
Show & Shop” at Town Center at Boca
Raton on Sunday, March 3rd will rev up the community for
charity. From 12 noon to 6 p.m., more than 100 car collectors will be
showcasing their “pride and joys” and sharing their car stories as retailers
and restaurants at Town Center of Boca Raton serve up tastings, informal
modeling and same-day shopping discounts, all to benefit two children’s
charities: Nat King Cole
Generation Hope (NKCGH) and Simon Youth
Foundation (SYF).
This
eclectic, high “WOW factor” car exhibition event will round out a fundraising
weekend by NKCGH following its GENERATIONS benefit
concert on Friday, March 1st headlining Natalie Cole to raise money
for music education programs in schools. Nat King Cole’s youngest daughters,
twins Timolin and Casey who founded NKCGH will serve as Grand Marshals of the
Cruisin-America show.
Event
programming will feature live performances by the youth who participated in the
inaugural NKCGH Summer Strings program at Lynn University and students from
schools that have received NKCGH music education funding. Also on the schedule
will be Gourmet Food Trucks, an exhibitor’s row, chances to win Town Center of
Boca Raton retailer merchandise and dining certificates, a car collectors’
award ceremony and more. Those attending can take advantage of same-day
discounts offered by participating mall stores and restaurants.
The
afternoon will be an impressive ride for automobile aficionados and a fun day
for the whole family. According to Cruisin-America Managing Partners, the
official Cruisin-America Car Show & Shop show cars will be the
award-winning:
·
Exotic 2008 Mosler MP 900-made of
carbon fiber, this is one of only 40 manufactured for the street use
·
Classic 1939 Lincoln Zephyr-a high-end
luxury car introduced in the late ’30s that is possibly one of the most fluid
automotive shapes ever developed. Following several custom designs
and an estimated $300,000 in time, material and labor … this collector’s car
has long been a show-stopper.
·
Antique
1941 Willys-a rare
pre-war “Americar” sedan produced by Willys-Overland Motors, one of a few
American car manufacturers later contracted by the U.S. military during World
War II to manufacture the highly successful Jeep. After
the end of the war, the company secured the trademark on the Jeep name.
Additional
registered show “car stars” will include a 1938 Packard, 1934 Custom
Ford Coupe, 1923 Ford “T Bucket”, 1934 Chevy Custom Coupe, 1937
Ford Custom Cabriolet and many more. Delray Acura and Delay Hyundai will be on-site
previewing Hyundai’s
new 2013 Equus luxury sedan.
“We
are pleased to be partnering with Town Center and its shops and restaurants to
showcase a signature collaboration and celebration of brilliant car, fashion
and community mission design,” said Jay Neloms, co-managing partner of
Cruisin-America. “Supporting the Nat King Cole Generation Hope to keep
music alive in our schools and the Simon Youth Foundation to ignite hope
through educational opportunities for students who are at risk of dropping out
of high school will make this not just an exhilarating event, but an
exceptionally meaningful one as well.”
The
free and open-to-the-public Cruisin-America Car Show & Shop will be located
in the parking area in The Terrace at Town Center of Boca Raton at 6000 Glades

About Nat King Cole Generation Hope, Inc.
The Nat King Cole Generation Hope, Inc. mission is to provide music education
to children with the greatest need and fewest resources. We accomplish this
mission by funding programs which provide for instruction, mentoring and
resources. Our Vision is that Nat King Cole’s unforgettable legacy will ensure
future generations are given the opportunity to learn and experience the joy of
music.
We
believe that every child should be exposed to music education. Studies have
proven that participation in school music has a positive impact on areas
considered outside the realm of music including dexterity, coordination,
self-discipline, self-esteem, thinking skills, listening skills, creative
abilities and personal expression. Through the efforts of Nat King Cole
Generation Hope, Inc., and the community as a whole, we envision a day when
music will be a central part of all children’s lives.

About Simon Youth Foundation
A national 501(c)(3) public charity headquartered in Indianapolis, Ind., Simon
Youth Foundation, or SYF, ignites hope through educational opportunities for
students who are at risk of dropping out of high school. To meet our mission,
SYF supports two major initiatives: Simon Youth Academies and Simon Youth
Scholarships.
In
partnership with local public school districts, SYF supports 23 Simon Youth
Academies in 13 states. Primarily located in Simon malls, Simon Youth Academies
offer flexible schedules and small class sizes that make learning accessible to
students who struggle to connect with material in a traditional classroom or
school because they are homeless, bullied, battling serious illness, facing
parenthood, working full-time to support their families, or facing other
challenging personal circumstances. The Simon Youth Scholarships program pays
out millions in one-time and renewable scholarships to high school students in
every community that is home to a Simon mall each year. Targeting
first-generation college students and those with demonstrated financial need,
the Simon Youth Scholarships program furthers the SYF commitment to extending
educational opportunities to all students who want to learn, no matter their
personal circumstances.
